簡介：丁善璽編導(dǎo)的本片，繼《英烈千秋》后，敘述1937年8月13日日寇侵略上海，中國88師524團(tuán)團(tuán)長謝晉元，為牽制日軍，掩護(hù)中國軍隊后撤，率領(lǐng)480青年軍官，號稱八百壯士，固守四行倉庫，達(dá)三個月之久。軍人英勇殺敵，女童子軍冒著生命危險給守軍輸送食物、醫(yī)藥，當(dāng)牽制任務(wù)完成，守軍越過蘇州橋后撤。本片的格局手法與《英烈千秋》完全不同，只限于幾成孤島上海的蘇州河畔的四行倉庫，數(shù)百中國軍人與包圍的日軍進(jìn)行陣地戰(zhàn)。導(dǎo)演根據(jù)史實，利用四行倉庫周圍有英法租界，蘇州河對面又是國統(tǒng)區(qū)，蘇州河兩岸戰(zhàn)爭與和平不同環(huán)境造成的戲劇沖突，表現(xiàn)了愛國軍隊抗擊侵略者英勇無畏的精神，和上海人民聲援國民黨守軍的時代氣氛。導(dǎo)演把握住雙方?jīng)_突的因素，安排叢生的險象，利用國軍在槍林彈雨下游過蘇州河，民眾都為軍人擔(dān)心的正反打鏡頭蒙太奇剪接手法，形成扣人心弦的場面，把劇情推向高潮。本事件曾于1938年搬上銀幕，是默片，由陽翰笙編劇，應(yīng)云衛(wèi)導(dǎo)演，袁牧之、陳波兒主演，是抗戰(zhàn)時期“大后方電影”中較為著名的一部，其中女童子軍冒死為壯士們送國旗的細(xì)節(jié)，具有極為悲壯的感染力。影片在當(dāng)時的大后方及香港極為轟動，而且在東南亞甚至西歐都得到熱烈反響。
